Don’t miss War Horse, the National Theatre’s legendary smash hit and 2011 Tony award-winner, as it returns home to the Olivier Theatre for a limited 2026 run. Book War Horse tickets on TodayTix.
War Horse is a play that starts at the outbreak of the First World War. Young Albert Narracott’s beloved horse, Joey, is sold to the cavalry and shipped off to France. Albert, being too young to enlist, knows what he must do: he must set off on a dangerous yet heart-warming adventure to save Joey and bring him home to safety. War Horse is based on Michael Morpurgo’s novel and combines a historic wartime atmosphere with some of the most ambitious theatrical feats in the shape of life-sized horse puppets.
This is a show with great scale and palpable emotion, moving from the sprawling fields of Devon to the treacherous battlefields of France as it weaves music and imagery into a story that is sure to bring the audience to tears in the best of ways.
